Hi friends. I hope you are well. This post has been swirling around in my head ever since I sat down at the computer last week. I would have written this post sooner but I came down with a terrible stomach bug. To be honest, I’ve been wondering how to approach blogging now that the world has gotten to this place. I’m concerned about everyone around me, aging parents, kids who are just starting out on their own, friends who have taken pay cuts or are temporarily unemployed, people who are unable to give deceased loved ones a funeral. It goes on and on. Many of you come here for inspiration or to “escape” for a minute and I get that, and I’ve heard from several of you in the last few days. I want to continue giving you what you come here to find – pretty interiors, recipes, fun finds – without feeling like I’m being insensitive when so many are doing without right now. I know I could use a little more distraction in my life and blogging for me has always been a bright spot! Please know that even though it may seem like I’m carrying on with “business as usual”, I, like you am in my home, concerned for our world, and doing the best I can to make the best of what’s in front of me.

Rene,
Thanks for the post, hope your tummy is feeling better. Honestly, for some reason when I read other emails from bloggers and they’re shopping and showing pretty things, it kinda ticks me off. Our country is going through something pretty huge. Maybe instead of bloggers talking about what they’re buying for spring break or what shoes are on sale, we should be sharing what kinds of things we’re doing with our free time, suggestions, ideas, help. Believe me, I’m the first to check out a sale and I feel quilt about that, I think right now we just need to be there for each other, what ever that looks like and it’s different for everyone. So I guess keep on keeping on. Thanks

Thank you for commenting, Debbie! I understand what you are saying and that is why I have felt conflicted. Going forward, I will share a mix of what I’m doing, ideas of things we can all be doing, as well as fun distractions because I’m hearing that we also need those more than ever.

I’m perfectly fine with whatever bloggers feel moved to share and don’t find posts which seem more lighthearted to be insensitive. Distractions are always welcome. Businesses do need to try to avoid going under, consequently posts about shopping don’t bother me one wit even though I myself am not a big shopper under normal circumstances. Please continue to post in whatever way you see fit – I will be happy to read.
