Ever since our first trip to Italy, I’ve developed a love of tagliatelle. There’s something about this pasta. The noodle is wider, yet more delicate and I dare say lighter than most kinds of pasta. There’s a certain creaminess about it that is so yummy! I’ve tried it with all sorts of different sauces, and it never disappoints! This smoked salmon recipe is easy to make (only takes 10 minutes to prep) and it is delicious! You don’t have to add the cream, but I do! My advice, as always is to gather the ingredients and have them all ready to go. Serve it with a simple tossed salad and freshly ground parmesan. Rose would pair nicely with this dish in the summer, but we enjoyed it with pinot noir. Enjoy!
Smoked Salmon Pasta
Ingredients
- 8 oz. pasta
- kosher salt
- 1/4 cup pine nuts
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/3 cup chopped shallots
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup dry white wine
- 1/4 cup cream (optional)
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tbsp. lemon zest, divided into in half
- 2 tbsp. fresh dill, chopped
- 4 oz. smoked salmon, cut into bite-sized pieces
Instructions
- Boil pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of water before draining pasta.
- Toast pine nuts in a single layer in a skillet on medium heat until lightly browned.
- While pasta is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet heat olive oil on medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes, then add white wine, lemon juice, and 1 tbsp. zest. Increase heat and let reduce by half. If you want a creamy sauce, add the cream and let boil 1 additional minute.
- Add pasta, some of the reserved liquid, smoked salmon, toasted pine nuts, and remaining zest to the sauce. Season with freshly ground pepper to taste.

I may have missed it, but are you using canned smoked salmon? This looks DELICIOUS.

Hi Judith. I use smoked salmon that you find in the refrigerated section of the grocery store (usually near bacon & sausage). It comes in a clear plastic package. Most grocery stores have it as well as Costco. Hope this helps.
