I shared pictures of the before and after of our front yard over the weekend. Several of you asked about the plants in the urns. So I thought it might help to have a blog post. Each December, we clean up the last of the leaves and add fresh pine needles to all of the beds. It makes everything look clean and fresh and perfect for the holidays. It’s something I look forward to every year! So much so that I feel like I haven’t officially decorated until this is done. I’m sharing the urn details at the end of the post. After I snapped the pictures, I realized the urn on the left looked fuller. Honestly, that’s how it’s going to stay, ha!
Some years I make our wreath, but this year I purchased a fir wreath from the local tree lot. The bells and ribbons are from previous years.
The silver branches are Carolina Sapphire Cypress (I believe). Those and the pine branches came from a local Christmas tree lot. The magnolia branches and acuba (with the red berries) came from our yard. I trimmed the ends of the branches I purchased and soaked them overnight. Everything was arranged in the dirt that was already in the urns from summer plants. It’s the easiest way to add a festive touch to a front porch.

I love the climbing vine you have on your front porch. We live in Raleigh and I’m looking to put something on our house here. What is that and how did you get it started and how long did it take to get that full? Thanks.

Thank you! The vine is a clematis armandii. It’s a fast grower!
