I gave our kitchen light fixture a makeover and am thrilled with the results! It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. It only took about an hour and now I’m wondering why I didn’t do it sooner. Scroll down to read all about it.
The fixture used to be bronze. (You can see it here.) It was beginning to feel heavy and it always competed with the prints on the wall behind the banquette. I either wanted to find a new light to replace it or give our existing light a makeover to see if I could live with it a while longer.
The candle cover sleeves are removable so I replaced them with these that I found on Amazon (I am an Amazon affiliate). Changing the sleeves alone made the biggest difference! Next, I used rub & buff in antique gold to cover the bronze. It’s easy to apply. I’ve literally used it hundreds of times. I usually apply it with my finger, but you can also use a cloth or a paper towel. I just feel like I have more control applying it with my finger.
This project took about an hour from start to finish. Easy! I’m loving the lighter and brighter look of our kitchen! I also like the contrast between the framed prints and the now gold light fixture.
