Hi all! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! We enjoyed a relaxing night at home. Sometimes, there’s nothing better you know?
I’ve been saving images of plate racks that have caught my eye lately. I love the graphic punch they add to a room, especially in a kitchen or dining room.
Why add a plate rack?
Plate racks are visually pleasing when they display a collection of plates and platters. They lend function to a space by adding storage for extra serving pieces. (I know I’m always looking for more storage space!) They don’t project very far from the wall, maybe 4-6 inches depending on the design. You get a huge impact without taking up a lot of square footage. Unlike a huge china cabinet.
Let’s take a look at some inspirational pictures.
Designed by Kara Miller Interiors. The blue and white Wedgewood adds a graphic touch against the textural grasscloth wallpaper.
I love this classic green and white combo by Dylanbsamide.
This layered collection is lovely by Amy Montgomery Home.
Of course, Gwyneth’s home has been all the rage as of late. Designed by Romanek Design Studio.
I love how m.o.endres displays both plates and platters.
This is a fresh take using blue and white, green, and bamboo. Designed by chicgeekcc.
It’s really hard to go wrong with classic blue and white! Image via the cottage journal.
Have you considered adding a plate rack? I would love to add one to our kitchen, but someone might take a little convincing.

I have thought about adding one to an area coming into our dining room. But something much smaller than those shown. I have a couple of examples saved. I have a small, vintage pew on the wall and thought of having a plate rack above it. Fairly plain with the beaded board back. The Mr. would build it. Can’t decide!!
