I’m starting to get really excited about entertaining during the upcoming holidays! When it comes to planning a holiday tablescape, I try to use what I have on hand. There’s really no wrong way to go about creating the perfect table. My best advice is to have fun with it and also to start early so that you have time to make last-minute changes if necessary. Find my previous tablescape posts here.
The Foundation
I like to start with a pretty tablecloth – white always works! The tablecloth and napkins in this setting are vintage, but I’ve linked similar below. Etsy is a great source if you are in the market for vintage linens. You can use fun napkin rings or ribbon, or even fold the napkins and tuck them under the plate. Anything goes!
The Layers
Next, I like to add a charger – either rattan, silver, or gold. Here, I used a combination of these plates along with blue willow that I’ve collected. It’s fun to play around with pattern and texture mixing. When it comes to flatware, silver is dressier than bamboo, but I love both! It just all depends on the occasion and overall vibe you’re trying to achieve. Glassware is another fun way to jazz up the table. Here I’m using simple crystal glasses, but Thanksgiving could be a fun time to use colorful stemware.
The Centerpiece
Fresh foliage or flowers from the yard always add a nice touch. Supermarkets have tons of floral options if you don’t have access to fresh greenery. And of course, there are lots of faux options that are pretty convincing. I try to limit the height of the centerpiece so that everyone can see each other at the table. No need to feel like you are on the Dating Game, lol! No table is complete without the glow of candlelight. Simple votives or colorful candles add the perfect finishing touch.
