Today, I’m sharing the rehearsal dinner details from our son and daughter-in-law’s recent wedding weekend.
As many of you know, our son, Tyler was recently married. The wedding was originally scheduled for January 23. The week of the wedding, Alicia, his bride, tested positive for Covid. Needless to say, we were all heartbroken! The good news is that by the end of the day, we were able to reschedule everything for the weekend of February 13th. If nothing else, this pandemic has taught us to go with the flow.
THE VENUE
We chose Natty’s Loft to hold the rehearsal dinner. The loft is a lovely little gem in Downtown Greensboro on the third floor of Natty Greene’s. We felt it was in keeping with the wedding venue, also downtown, which I will get to in another post. The loft recently underwent renovations which allowed for larger gatherings. They added an extra table which was great, but I had to do a little last-minute magic for the table decor (insert sweaty emoji).
We opted for an open bar. Appetizers and dinner were selected from the available menu – food was served buffet style. The space has a dartboard, a pool table, comfy leather furniture. Rustic brick walls and original wood floors are what I love most about the loft. If you are looking for a venue that feels like home in the heart of Downtown Greensboro, this is it!
WELCOME GUESTS
I created a welcome sign to display as you enter the stairs that lead up to the third floor. The sign was created on Canva and printed on poster board at Staples. I would have used foam core but waited too late to make that happen.
SEATING
Originally, I wasn’t planning to have assigned seating, but the grandparents were concerned about Covid, and rightfully so. They preferred to sit together, so we honored that request. As a side note, they were able to be vaccinated before the wedding, which was a relief for us all!
TABLE DECORATIONS
When I booked the venue way back when Natty’s Loft had three tables. So, I had only planned for three. The long rectangular containers were ordered online as well as this cheesecloth table runner. Flowers came from Trader Joe’s. I used eucalyptus, spray roses, carnation, baby’s breath, and those blueish purple flowers (help me with the name?). Believe it or not, they are still looking good!
This is the surprise, last-minute table. Without having time to react, I decided to make this the head table. Thankfully, Mom has shared vintage linens with me over the years. (Thank you, Mom) I happened to have an extra-long tablecloth that fit this table. Mottahedeh bowls filled with white hydrangeas marched down the center. When in doubt, pull out the blue and white and add hydrangeas!
I worked countless hours putting together a slide show that ran on the large tv screen on the back wall. Everyone was surprised that I didn’t cry during the wedding. I attribute it to the tears spent going through old family photos. Goodness, the tears were flowing! Also, creating the playlist had me choked up at times.
THE GROOM’S CAKE
Tyler is an avid fisherman. So, it only seemed fitting that the groom’s cake be a fishing theme. Oops! There was a hair mixup, or maybe I didn’t specify? The cake came from Delicious Bakery and they did a wonderful job! The cake itself was mocha cappuccino. They have so many flavors to choose from.
The night of the rehearsal dinner was the beginning of the most magical weekend. My only regret was that I didn’t take any pictures. Maybe that’s a sign of the wonderful time we had. The memories will always be with us. Stay tuned for wedding details. It was breathtakingly beautiful!!

It looks absolutely wonderful! And funnily enough, my son, Tyler, married his wife, Alyshia, in October 2019. Same names just a slightly different spelling 🙂

I believe the purple/blue flower is thistle. A lovely Scottish flower!

I looked it up and it’s called eryngium or blue sea flower. It does look like thistle! https://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/grow-plants/how-to-grow-eryngiums/
