Recently, we spent nine days in LaQuinta, CA. It isn’t hard to convince me to trade cold, rainy weather for sunshine and flowers! Our stay was split between R’s parents’ home at The Citrus and his brother’s home in Santa Rosa Cove. R took a couple of vacation days but worked remotely most of the week. Still, we found time to hike, take in an art show, and spend lots of time outside.
One of my favorite landscapes – Italian cypress, Palms, and laurel. This is the entrance into LaQuinta Resort.
St. Patrick’s Day & not a stitch of green!
The citrus trees were all in bloom this time. I’ve never smelled anything quite as wonderful! We snuck out one night in our pajamas and cut a couple branches to have in the house. They smelled like heaven!
Morning walks included lots of flowers. This was the prettiest rose!
I love this mix of pink geraniums. Another combination not pictured is coral with pink. So, so pretty!
Of course, green and white will always be my favorite.
A cheesy selfie as we started our 6+ mile hike in the desert.
No trip to CA is complete without In & Out!
The hummingbirds are so tame! R filled up the feeder when we got there, and they immediately came. I love to sit on the patio and watch them.
Even though temps were in the 70’s, the mountains all around us were covered with snow. Our trip was perfectly timed because when we got home it was sunny and everything has started to grow. Yay spring!

Looks wonderful! I was wondering if you could tell me where your white sweater in the 3rd photo is from? (I have been looking for a white sweater for years and can’t find one that I like)
René says
Hi Joanne. The sweater is an old favorite from Banana Republic, I think. This one is very similar – https://bit.ly/3rchnOI
Hope this helps!
