I think we can all agree that if nothing else, this pandemic has given us time to get organized. Now that everything (including underwear) in the house has been Marie Kondo folded, I’m moving onto other parts of the house that have an impact on our daily lives. Since I’m still cooking all the time, I thought it would be a great time to tackle the spice drawer.
As you can see in the image above, our spice drawer was pretty messy. The jars rolled around and they were in no particular order. I was worried that adding something to hold the bottles would limit how much space I would have for spices. We love our spices! After carefully measuring the drawer, I found this spice drawer rack to be an almost perfect fit. I say almost because there’s still a tiny gap between the rack and drawer on all sides. R cut a small piece of wood to wedge into the back of the drawer. Now, the rack fits perfectly.
I wanted square bottles so that they would all lay flat and not roll around. I went with these and then ordered these because apparently, I miscounted the first time. Now I have extras if one breaks!
Even though the bottles come with labels, I wanted a more minimalist and modern look. Luckily this Etsy store has a beautiful selection. I ordered 40 standard labels and a few custom labels for the spices that weren’t on the list. They are waterproof which is nice for cleaning purposes. Now, the spice drawer holds 32 jars of spices – more than I could’ve ever dreamed! Who knew that adding this rack would give me more space? Every time I open this drawer, my heart skips a beat with delight. It’s the little things.
