I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time in the garden lately (as if you didn’t already know, ha!). There are certain things that I reach for year after year, a few things I’ve recently discovered, and also a few more things that are on my wish list. Whenever I work in the garden I like to wear a good pair of waterproof shoes, and a pair of work gloves, and a hat if it’s sunny. It seems like I reach for my pruners almost daily. Now that the rain has slowed, I’m reaching for my collapsible hose more often to water the garden. I used to struggle with our hose until I bought a collapsible one – game-changer. This garden cart is on my wish list along with some cloches like this one and this one. I’d also like to add a pollinator house somewhere in the garden to attract bees.

Any suggestions for cut hydrangea? I have some of the traditional mop head and the stargazer like you have pictured and they both wither within few hours of cutting. I have tried the boiling water dunk, no luck. Thanks!

Hi Ava. I have had success with soaking them in the sink when they wilt. I used cold tap water and let them soak for about 30 minutes or so. Also, I find that they tend to wilt less if I wait until after the blooms have had time to fully develop before I cut them. They seem sturdier then. Hope this helps!
