Hey, y’all! Happy April Fool’s! I hope everyone is well and adjusting to the new normal. Many of you requested ideas of things we can be doing at home during shelter in place. I’ve been taking full advantage of organizing things that had been neglected for far too long. Today, I’m sharing projects old and new that might inspire you to tackle a looming project or two, a couple of recipes to try, and a few self-indulgent ideas too, because we all need that sometimes.
Organize the hall closet. Find out how I organized our tiny linen closet.
I would love to have an entire room or even a closet designated to gift wrap, but alas, I’m down to one drawer for trimmings (ribbon, tags, scissors, and tape) and one drawer for bags, boxes, and wrapping paper. It works though!
Roasting coffee beans is easy to do at home. Maybe you saw my instastory last weekend? You only need beans and a popcorn popper. Read how to do it here.
I’ll admit that after reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I only got as far as my socks and underwear drawers. The other day I went through almost every drawer and file folded my pajamas, sweaters, and workout clothes. I still have a couple of drawers to go to, but I like this new set-up!
I’ve been sorting my i-phone apps into categories for several years. I find this works best for me. The categories are blogging, social media, music/podcasts, watching/reading, photography, travel, shopping, games, utilities, and tools. I nerded out a couple of weeks ago and added emojis to identify each category. How do you organize your apps?
Thanks to Mom I have lots of vintage linens. I recently went through my collection and sorted out random pieces or things I would never use and donated those. I sorted the rest into sets, cleaned anything that was stained, and ironed everything. I tied a ribbon around each set and added a tag showing how many napkins were in each grouping (no more scrambling at the last minute to set the table). Tablecloths are stored underneath and are pressed and ready for use.
Make a Backyard Jenga Game Set. It’s easier than you think.
Make this simple and delicious chocolate with ganache for splurge night.
Give your feet a makeover with Babyfoot. Nobody is going to see them when they go through the ugly stage, lol!
Try this cucumber basil gin and tonic at your next happy hour.
