Last week I mentioned that I had worked out with my son. Several of you asked about the exercises we did, so I thought I’d share the workout for those of you who are looking for ways to stay in shape now that the gyms are closed. I have to give P all the credit for coming up with this full-body workout. He has been an athlete most of his life and is very knowledgable about fitness and nutrition. This workout is a mix of timed and counted exercises. I do the whole thing three times through which only takes about 20-25 minutes followed by a good stretch and he does 5 sets of each using heavier weights and finishes with additional ab work. You can modify it to suit your needs. I use a mat, a jump rope, a 15 lb. kettlebell, 10 lb. dumbbells. I’ve provided videos to show the correct technique with the exception of jump rope. I’m planning to do this workout three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) after my walk. Let me know if you give it a try. I’ve also rounded up some great workout gear at the end of the post. The Lululemon shorts are my all-time favorite and I love the fit of these tops!
1. jump rope one minute, rest 15 seconds
2. kettlebell swing with alternating arms one minute, rest 15 seconds
3. ten bicep curls to overhead press (I do these on my knees), rest 15 seconds
4. ten reverse lunges on each side, rest 15 seconds
5. one-minute plank on elbows or hands, rest 15 seconds
6. ten squat jumps, rest one minute
repeat everything two more times or more if you’re up for it
