I always love recommendations when it comes to shows, movies, and podcasts. So, I thought it would be fun to share a few things I’ve been enjoying lately. If you have any recent favorites, please share in the comments. Would love to chat more with you!
MOVIES
R and I saw Rocketman last weekend in theater and it did not disappoint. It’s a musical fantasy that tells Elton John’s story from his youth to eventual success including many ups and downs along the way. I recently listened to this podcast, an interview with Elton, that gives even more insight into the movie. Taaron Edgerton blew me away with his acting and vocals, making the songs his own.
Always Be My Maybe is a super cute romantic comedy on Netflix! The two main characters start out as childhood friends, best friends actually. They find themselves in an awkward romantic situation that ends badly. Their paths eventually cross as adults.
NETFLIX SERIES
Lately, I’ve been drawn more to comedy than any other genre on Nextflix. There’s just something about those positive endorphins that result from a good laugh. Also, I’m not one to “binge watch” but I’ve gotta admit that I binge watched Dead to Me. This show is hilarious! Be warned, there’s lots of language that might be offensive. Christina Applegate is a widow whose husband was just killed in a hit and run accident. She makes a new friend in her group therapy session and it goes on from there. I cannot wait for season two!
Schitt’$ Creek is an older Netflix series that I recently discovered. I’ve been a fan of Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, the two main characters, since their roles in Best in Show. The story is about a family who loses their fortune and is forced to move into a hideous motel. Episodes are less than 30 minutes which is perfect for me.
PODCASTS
Disgraceland – This podcast takes a look into the lives of musicians both past and present. Jake Brennan is an incredible storyteller who digs deep to find the details that tell the stories. A few favorites are Amy Winehouse, Kurt Kobain and Courtney Love, and Johnny Cash. He is also the one who interviewed Elton John that I mentioned before.
Beauty Bytes With Dr. Kay – Dr. Kay is a plastic surgeon who specializes in head and neck surgery. On her podcast she talks about skin care, anti-aging and wellness. She has interesting guests including her office staff, successful social media influencers, and others in the dermatological field. I’ve gotten a lot of good tips from her.
So now tell me what you’ve been watching and listening to.

I loved Good Girls and it’s now in season 2. Love love The Gran Hotel, also on Netflix. It’s in Spanish and you’d have to read the words across the screen but so worth watching! It’s my and others long time favorite. In fact, Netflix brought it back due to the audience demand! lol check them out.

I love Call the Midwife on Netflix. It’s not a comedy but it does have it’s light moments.
