We are back and finally unpacked from a wonderful week in California. Before we left, we were faced with the task of emptying our bedroom (including my closet) and the office in order to have the hardwood floors refinished while we were away. Obviously, this made packing for a week away a tiny bit more challenging! But it was totally worth it when we returned home to beautiful floors! Stay tuned for pictures!
We are so fortunate to have family in La Quinta which is where we spend most of our time. A short walk to the resort for coffee & treats is always a fun time.
Another favorite past time is hiking in the desert. I can honestly say that in all of my visits, the desert has never been as beautiful as it was this time. Apparently, Greensboro isn’t the only place that received lots of rain. The flowers were in full bloom with butterflies and ladybugs everywhere. We were lucky to have perfect weather the day we hiked!
What’s a trip to Palm Springs without a stop at Cheeky’s, our favorite breakfast spot? This time I had cheesy custard style scrambled eggs and they were the best eggs I’ve ever eaten. I’m working on recreating them & will share my recipe once perfected.
We drove the San Diego to explore and made a few stops on the way there and back. Temecula was a delightful little town. We plan to go back there again & maybe stay at an Airbnb. There was a festival going on when we passed through and it was really crowded. We also stopped into California Wild Ales and tried a flight of sours.
It’s a nano brewery that specializes in barrel aged sour beers. My favorite was the citrus explosion which was made from the fruit of two trees grown in Palm Springs; a grapefruit and a meyer lemon. It was delish!
We also stopped at Ballast Point in Miramar and enjoyed a snack on the beautiful patio. We had the duck nachos – yum!
Have I mentioned flowers? They were everywhere – even on the highway.
On our way back from San Diego to La Quinta, we stopped in Carlsbad, my new favorite beach town. There was a 5k race that day, so needless to say, the town was packed. We had the best time meeting locals and exploring the town. Lots of shops & restaurants. I definitely want to go there again!
Several people told us about the poppy field in Carlsbad. So, we had to find it. The view was truly amazing with a rainbow of poppies and the ocean as a

We love La Quinta…have a second home there! Any idea what the paint color is on the blue door in your first photo? Love it!

Hi Stephanie. My in-laws also have a second home there and it’s been so nice to spend time there over the years. As far as the door color, that’s one of the tennis villas at La Quinta Resort. They are all painted the same color, not sure what it is, but maybe the resort could share the color. 🙂

I thought that photo looked familiar. Our home is in Santa Rosa Cove located right next to the resort. I’ll give them a call to see if they will share. 🙂 Thank you!

No way! That’s where my in-laws live. Talk about a small world, lol!
