When it comes to bedrooms, sometimes the only way to make a room work is to place the bed in front of the window. We had to do this in our room in order to allow room for a night stand on either side of the bed plus a dresser and chest of drawers. While I might prefer having the option of placing the headboard against a long wall, I’m here to tell you that it’s not the worst thing in the world. In fact, here are some gorgeous bedrooms to support my case. It works with upholstered headboards, but isn’t limited to them as you can see in the fifth image (I love how the light comes in around the bed). Any variety of window treatments can create a simple back drop – shades, curtains, or a combination of the two.

They all look lovely. For a while I slept in an old brass bed which I put in front of my highish bedroom window and I tho't it worked well and looked fine. Now I have a wicker headboard and I'm thinking I might turn my bed around and put it under the window, too. I remember when I had the brass bed in front of the window I could look up and see the stars. I liked that!

I have dabbled with the idea of doing this. But I do want to include a tv in the guestroom and the closet door is where the bed is facing. I love it though. Maybe in my next house.
