Our oldest son will live in a house rather than a dorm this fall which requires furniture. You know this makes me giddy because it’s a great excuse to change things around our house. One of the things he will need is a bed which will come from his bedroom here at home. Our four post bed moved to his room which left us with a clean slate in the master bedroom. The four post bed was always on the large side for our small bedroom so an upholstered headboard seemed like the way to go to maximize space. During all this planning I was offered a gel foam bed in exchange for a review and could not resist the opportunity to try it out. I’ve been reading about mattresses shipped direct to your door and was curious about the quality.
Believe it or not, our mattress arrived in this box. This is sooo much easier than carrying an open, fully expanded mattress into the house! Once we opened the box and cut through the plastic wrap the mattress fully expanded before our eyes. The kid in me couldn’t wait to jump on it!
Did I mention that we accidentally unpacked it in our dining room? R thought it was the dining room rug even though “mattress” was clearly printed on the box, haha. You should’ve seen the look on his face after he cut through the plastic and realized what he had done :).
We both prefer a firm mattress, but with enough give to be comfortable. We decided on the Miranda which “provides support for the spine as well as superior comfort”. I could not agree with this more.
What I like most about the mattress other than comfort and front door delivery is that whenever either of us rolls over we don’t disturb the other. I’m a light sleeper for the most part and this detail has allowed me to sleep more soundly.
All mattresses from Gel Foam Bed are made in the USA with non-toxic material – a huge concern for many of us. You can try a mattress for 100 nights and if not fully satisfied they will pick it up from your home. We love ours and have been sleeping on it almost a month now…so it’s a keeper.

That's amazing. We have a Select Comfort that we have been very happy with but I will be curious to know what you think of this several months from now. I hope you will do a follow up.

That's a great idea! I will do that.

Do you use a standard box spring with this type of mattress? Thanks! 🙂
René says
We used a standard box spring with ours and it worked perfectly.

Does it get too warm?

I was worried about this before we received our new mattress because I've used memory foam toppers before that were too warm. There's no difference in temperature between this and a normal mattress. My husband agrees.

I have been researching mattress lately. I slept on a Thermapedic at a clients house and it was fabulous! Those suckers are expensive! I might look into this brand!
