I’ve been chipping away at the dining room every free minute I can find and I’m really happy with how things are coming together. I pass through this room each time I go from the living room to the kitchen and I’m really beginning to like what I see. Before it was a disheveled mess with pictures waiting to be hung, boxes ready for goodwill, and a vacuum sealed mattress that we accidentally opened, oops!
The dining chairs were recovered with a neutral linen/cotton and the fabric is exactly what I was looking for! You never know when you order fabric on line and don’t first order swatches, but this time was a success. Same goes for the rug. I love it and wish I had pulled the trigger sooner. It’s soft and has not shed one bit. The soft cream/grey and the washed navy blue are perfect for the look I was going for. Pattern and color without being too much.
You made have heard me all the way from North Carolina when I found these palm tree candlesticks and blue and white bowl in a vintage store!
The bar cart is another addition to the dining room. I found one at World Market. It had a silver finish which wasn’t quite what I was hoping for so a little rub ‘n buff fixed that problem. It’s so nice having bar essentials in one spot instead of tucked away in various cabinets.
Here’s a closer shot of the table, chairs, and rug. Love!
And of course my trusty sidekick is right by my side.
Still to do: box moulding, paint walls, paint china cabinet, sitting area
that rug is so fabulous- and regan is getting so big!!
Thanks Cassie! She's growing so fast!
Wow it's looking beautiful! Would you mind sharing where you found that beautiful abstract art piece above your buffet?
Thank you! It's a DIY that may need a little more tweaking :).

Oh my!!! I love everything about this room. I had to order those wall sconces for myself 😉
Thank you Lisa! Hope you are enjoying your sconces.
Your dining room looks great Rene and that rug was the perfect choice! Your sidekick sure is a cutie and growing quickly!
Thanks so much Allison! Reagan is more fun each day.
Love it all, especially that precious fur kid! Would you mind sharing where you found that fabulous art above the buffet?!
What color will the new paint be? Love the room, blue and white is a no fail always!!
Thanks Dianne! I'm leaning toward classic gray on the top only since the living room is already that color. I'm hoping the two rooms flow together more once painted.
It's coming along great. I love it.
I love it! So fresh and pretty!
So, so pretty Rene! I love all your brass touches from the drapery hardware to the bar cart. That rug is an incredible find at such an amazing price! I might need to snatch that up! What about the abstract art above your sideboard? Love the modern touch it adds!! So pretty!
Just beautiful and those powdery blues would suck me right in! Btw, your dining room is fabulous too! 🙂
Things are coming together nicely. I love your painting.
Your dining room is fabulous! I'm especially in love with the console/buffet table! Everything in the room works so well together.

Everything looks so pretty Rene! I love the abstract art over the buffet!
I am wondering if you think that the rub and buff product would work on a silver chandelier. I really want a large gold Darlana lantern for my foyer, but it is so expensive and I can't find a knockoff. I think I could more easily find a silver lantern that I could doctor up.
It depends on the texture of the silver. Sterling silver would probably not work because it is too slick, but something with a silver "finish" might. Bronze is easily covered with R&B. Hope this helps.
I love the art over the buffet. Do you have a source you would reveal?
