When my Country Living arrived a couple of weeks ago, I was captivated by this charming cottage. I first thumbed my way through looking at pictures, then went back to read the article. It was one of those tours I went back to several times over the course of the weekend. I recognized the 970 square foot cottage from the blog The Gardener’s Cottage, but seeing the charming home all styled up in a magazine spread was such a treat! So good ya’ll! I’ve always thought that small spaces in the form of gardens and homes give the owner an opportunity to make each space perfect. And perfect it is. Read the full article including small space advice and other decorating details here. I’ve noted a few details that I love below.
Monday Inspiration | California Cottage
Love the painted stripes on the floor, the plates, and pops of green.
Creams, wood tones, natural textures, and navy!
Subway tile to ceiling is always a good idea as are lamps in kitchens.
Open shelving with beadboard backs, apron sink, and beautiful crown moulding perfection.
How nice to have a window in the pantry!
Clean & simple!
Love the gallery wall and navy of course!
Brilliant idea to paint the smallest room a dark color.

I was disappointed the living room did not make the magazine. it is a favorite of mine. Isn't it interesting that the chandy was put in the kitchen ,not over the dining table? I am surprised the stylist has the toothbrush on the toilet. That bothered me. You can tell I really studied these photos. LOL Love the cottage and the front porch in stripes especially!

I love this cottage and the blog site as well. So charming and like one other reader, I was so surprised the living room didn't make the cut!
