Are you all blurry-eyed from a late night of super bowl activities? I could definitely use another hour of sleep this morning, but Monday is calling. As you know, I’m a huge fan of open shelves in the kitchen and I love seeing how others style their shelves. We usually keep things we reach for every day on our open shelves and boy is it ever easy to grab a dish when we need one. I also like to see art propped in the background, interesting pitchers or silver candlesticks, and even cookbooks. Let’s not forget the ever important wooden cutting board. Here are a few favorites.

I think we are going to go with open shelves in our kitchen redo too. In our last house we eliminated upper cabinets completely on one wall and opted for very well planned drawer storage. Then all the pretty stuff (or stuff you use everyday as you mentioned) is the only this out in the open. So much better than upper cabinets and makes the kitchen feel so much more open.

I just laughed out loud to myself. My husband and I have just returned from the local carpenters where we ordered some oak to be cut into shelves for our kitchen. I sat down opened up my emails and there was this post from you with these photos – exactly what we are doing, only we already have open shelving in the kitchen and I LOVE it, would never have upper cabinets again, but we wanted to change them from white to natural French oak.

Love open shelving! We re-did our kitchen 4 years ago and though I love how it came out, a part of me wishes I had opted for even some open shelving. It gives such a great look!!
