Yesterday was the sunniest day we’ll see this week so I took advantage of the beautiful morning light and snapped seventy two a few pictures to share. I’m always a little hesitant to show pictures of our house because there’s so much still to be done like chunkier crown moulding, caulk, paint touch-ups. So try not to look too closely. Without further ado, our Christmas home.
This year I decided to continue with the pink accents we already have in our family room. You may have seen the front porch on instagram.
This is the first year we’ve used an artificial tree and I must say, it has been quite nice! No watering and no shedding. I wanted a skinny tree to fit into the corner of the room and went with this one from Tree Classics. For the first time ever we didn’t have to re-arrange the house to accommodate the tree! Having no experience whatsoever with artificial trees I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was easy enough to assemble the four parts. There’s a foot switch to step on to turn the lights on. We put the tree up before Thanksgiving and just last week I put the ornaments on. I loved it undecorated, but really like it now with all the colors and sparkle. The lights are cool to the touch too so they stay on all day. I love this tree! You can hardly see it, but this year I upgraded our tree skirt from a scrap of fabric to a basket skirt.
The paper whites are growing a little each day and are showing a few buds.
The view from the dining room.
I wanted to try an asymmetrical garland on the mantle this year. With the tree being in the corner by the fireplace I wanted to have a break in between the greenery and the tree. I used a fresh pine garland and added a few cypress branches from the garden.
A little peek at my office/sunroom.
If you made it to the end, thank you for sticking around!

Beautiful! I've done a fake pencil tree for severa years now as space is also an issue for me and I love it! I also upgraded to a basket skirt last year and they look so much "cleaner" to me!
Don't beat yourself up about your house, it's wonderful and I would move right in!

Your tree and your home are both gorgeous Rene. You've done a beautiful job with your home. Love the bright pink you've brought in and the pretty bow on the wreath. We're still working on finishing up on decorating over here. Hope to finish today! Big hugs to sweet Mattie Gray.

Very pretty! I'm typically not fond of pink in decorating, but I love how you've used it throughout your room, including that painting on the wall. Very nice. The mirror over the fireplace is interesting. Where did you find it?

I swore I'd never go artificial either, but this was the year, and you know what, I think it might be a keeper! So much easier and I can't even tell the difference once I put up the smelly sticks ha ha ha! Your home is so warm and inviting yet fresh and crisp, love it. Do you have a source for the pot that the paperweights are in?
René says
Thank you Dina! Yes, I'm sold on artificial trees! The pot came from a local nursery called Guilford Garden Center.
