I had every intention to get back after it this week, but alas, life called. I’ve enjoyed spending time with our youngest shopping for back to school and then settling our oldest back into dorm life for his sophomore year. And then there was the power outage yesterday – I didn’t enjoy that as much. Today is my sweet mother’s birthday, happy birthday Mom! And today we have family coming for an overnight visit. The week has been full, but good full.
I’ve been working on a couple of small entry projects. The key to a small entry is that it offers a mix of style and function and allows a clear path into the home. Not always an easy task, but it is always doable with well appointed details and planning.
In a home with an undefined entry such as this, pegs/hooks, and basket create a drop zone in a small space. The brass details and white paint keep the space bright and polished.
Grass cloth wallpaper gave this entryway a focus and added a bit of texture and contrast to the white interior. The narrow table is definitely key while the statement mirror adds reflection and bounces light around the space. I’m a wee bit jealous over that floor outlet :).
Lucite is a small space bff. It provides surface space while not taking up visual space. Win-win. It’s always nice if you can tuck a bench or basket under a little table for extra seating or storage.
Even though this entry has the extra height, the foot print is rather small. Notice how the artwork creates the illusion of grandeur while the bench offers a space to slip your shoes on before heading out the door. Of course the pendant light is the real stunner. You can read more about this space here.

Great post Rene! We are just about done all the hard physical labor on our DR and now I'm tackling the entry. Our entry is small too and while I thought the new coat of paint would lighten it up – it is still missing something. So, now the decision to add a chair rail and wallpaper!! Excited for this, but as does everything in my home, this will take some time.

I always love the challenge of working with small spaces, these images are a great example of how small space doesn't have to mean sacrificing style and function!!

Sometimes small spaces are better because you have to be select in your choices. 🙂
