I immediately began google searching “big jenga” and quickly found options from Amazon & Etsy. They weren’t cheap either. We both thought it looked easy enough to make. So we did.
We have had the best time with family and friends playing this game! Even grandparents like it! This is a game for kids of all ages! And believe me, nothing makes me happier than hearing the laughter of our sons and their friends in our backyard long after I’ve tucked myself in at night.
To make your very own backyard Jenga you will need:
Hand or circular saw
4 – 2″ x 4″ x 16′ boards —> (this makes 72 pieces which makes it more fun!)
Cut all boards into 10 1/2″ pieces.
Sand to smooth out the splinters. I used a palm sander.
You can find Jenga rules here. Let me know if you try it. Have fun!
Rene I have always wanted to do this!! I love how humungous it turns out, how fun for the kids!!!! I am definitely adding this to my summer bucket list – thanks for sharing!!
Let me know how it turns out Lisa. Sanding the boards took the longest, but was well worth the effort.
Rene, Love it! I'm a little hazy though on the board sizes you bought. Can you clarify how many 2 X 4's and the lengths. Thanks!
Sure, you need 4 – 2 x 4 x16 boards. Hope this helps.
This is fantastic, Rene!
How fun Rene! We are a big game playing family. Maybe I can have hubby cut the boards and I can sand them. How cute to see your mom playing. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Allison!
I remember that first summer home after college- – what an incredible time in life. Enjoy the time with your whole family home!
Thank you Ava! It's fun seeing all the old friends together again. Such a great time!
