I’m thrilled to be joining a group of talented ladies today to chat about coffee table styling. Thank you to Mary Ann and Cindy for inviting me to participate! If you are new here, welcome! If you stopped by today hoping to see Friday Link Love it’s right here.
Coffee tables are great way to bring a little personality into your home and share a little more about yourself. Depending on space, I prefer a coffee table that is generous in size or as large as a space allows.
I usually start with trays, books, or magazines as a foundation. From there I like to bring in flowers or plants. Peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas, and lilies are some of my favorite flowers. Orchids, succulents, citrus, and ferns are favorite house plants.
A variety of textures and finishes adds to the mix. Items you may have around the house such as corks, shells, and pine cones add texture. Brass, hammered silver, and mercury glass are excellent finishes that add sparkle.
Don’t forget the bottom of the coffee table. This is great place for baskets, extra books, magazines, etc.
In the images above I switched out the white tray for this textured scalloped tray. While I love white on white in the previous images, but a little contrast is nice too.
Here is one more little tweak. I moved the gold tray under the bowl of corks and brought in the blue and white tray for the succulent to rest upon. Everything looks better on a tray right?

Love all those versions! The gold tray with the green plant is such a pretty contrast and the bowl w/the wine corks is a great idea – I need to remember that one.
René says
The gold tray gets lost on the book. So many combos it's always hard to choose just one which explains the constant state of motion around here :).

Ha! As in I drink too much wine :). Thank you!

Fun and colorful! (And, I totally thought about using corks, too, but figured the twins would eat them…)
René says
Those darling twins would never do that ;).

I am totally enamored with your table. I adore the peonies and the blue together and the way it ties in with the rest of the room. I noticed we both like that Tom Scheerer book without the cover, it looks great with that tray! What a clever ideas to use the corks. We always have plenty of those at our house. Thank you so much for participating …wonderful work!! I am going to come back when I have time to study it more!!

That is a great coffee table Rene! Ours is a good size but I wish it had a shelf on the bottom. Yours is beautifully styled. I usually have some nice coffee table books on it and a vase of fresh flowers from the garden. Mine could use a little more interest so this is a very helpful post! Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
Kim @ Savvy Southern Style says
Love the styling, Rene and may have to borrow the corks in the bowl idea.
