After we toured Lauren’s beautiful penthouse yesterday, I began thinking about the Saarinen round dining table. They run anywhere from $1,600-4,200 depending on size and top surface material. I’ve always wanted one though I have no idea where it would fit in our house.
If you like them as much as I do, but the price tag is holding you back, you can easily pull off the look with a little IKEA hack.
Start with the Docksta table which is $199… Add gray marble adhesive film which comes in sheets 78″ long for $10.99… and there you have it.

That looks just fabulous. I have been looking for a kid-friendly table solution, this is a great option. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, Rene, LOVE them but I don't know where I'd put one. : ( Who needs a sofa, right?

I have wanted one, too, and keep trying to find a place to put it! No luck. The marble adhesive film looks like the real thing! What a great idea.

How did you get the marble paper to line up so there lines don't show? How did you wrap the paper around the sides of the table? I love this but I'm not sure how to do this part!

Did you work this out…I just bought the paper and thought eek how am i going to do this!

I haven't actually tried this project, but I know others have done it with great success. Best of luck to you both!

What a great way to get a luxe look for less!! While I would dare to try this myself, I too was curious about the edges. After doing some looking around, this hack on youtube is a smaller project but has some great tips that could be put to great use. Haven't tried just yet but definitely plan on it!!
