Every summer during my childhood, my family and I would spend a week at the beach. We normally stayed at the same house each year, but no matter what, Mom made sure that our beach house had an outdoor shower. I never fully understood the allure of the outdoor shower until I was much older. Now I’m actually quite taken with them and am scheming about ways to add a shower to our outdoor space. There’s something peaceful and relaxing about showering outside after spending a long day on the beach or in the garden.
I’ve done some searching and have found a couple of options for creating an outdoor shower that doesn’t require major plumbing or weather proofing at all like this last image and an even less expensive option (but not quite as charming) found here.
And for the DIYers, you can find the steps to make a charming privacy curtain right here.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our outdoor shower here on Cape Cod. I shower everyday outside, even in the rain (as long as there's no thunder or lighting)! Niki

I adore outdoor showers!! Nearly all the beach houses we've rented have them. There's something very sexy about showering outdoors. You have privacy (as long as it's enclosed) but you feel so exposed. I wish we could have an outdoor shower at our house. Wouldn't that be nice! Lauren Leiss has an amazing one at her house, which you've probably seen on her blog, Pure Style Home.

I whole heartedly agree! An outdoor shower is practical and peaceful! We have friends who own a beach house and every time we visit, I love showering while listening to the ocean in the distance. There's nothing quite like it!

I live in the mountains of TN and have no beach insight but have had 2 outside showers at my last two homes. I grew up at the beach in NJ with an outside shower and love them and missed it so my husband built me one for mother;s day one year. We're sold and will be putting one in at our next home too!
