I’ve been meaning to share this post with you for a while. You might remember this post where I shared a great source for inexpensive framing and mat boards. At that time I filled the frames with free art that I printed out at home knowing that I would eventually replace it with something more meaningful. Once spring/summer rolled around I wanted to inject more freshness and color in the room. The wall color and furnishings in the room are neutral so I knew that a little color would go a long way.
Lately shades of aqua and coral mixed with warm neutrals have been speaking to me. Thankfully, one of my favorite artists has an amazing selection of 3×5’s to choose from. Once I found the perfect piece (the one in the middle) I continued my search for others that would look nice together. I lucked up and found the piece on the left from Minted and the one on the right from this etsy store. I’m really happy with this little grouping and feel that the new prints give the room just the right amount of color.
Here you can see the entry (read about the striped walls here). A while back I mentioned that I had recovered the ottoman with faux ostrich. The old ikat was showing all kinds of dirt so it had to go. The solid color with a little texture of the faux ostrich better suits me anyway – now there’s no limit when it comes to other accessories. I go back and forth on whether to layer a rug over the sisal rug and if so what kind? Maybe that can wait until fall.

I really like the contrast between the white mats and black frames. That really sets them off.

Thank you! The fabric is Braemore Gorgeous Pearl. I made it myself, but they are available on etsy. Hope this helps.

Looks fabulous! I just layered a cowhide over my sisal – the family is skeptical but warming to it.

I was thinking cowhide too. Now if I can find one at a reasonable price.

I would love to recreate this in my living room, I have the same blank wall above the couch! I was thinking of picking up the RIBBA Frames from Ikea (20.5×28) and you said you ordered the mat with a 5×7 opening, right?
René says
Ribbas would work! Yes, the mats have a 5 x 7 opening.
Eenie says
I love your new art wall & would love to duplicate as I have 3 empty frames I've been searching to fill. However when I went to to search for the middle one, it says it's a 16×20? Where we're you able to purchase a 5×7?
René says
Hi Eenie. I found the 5 x 7 on the etsy site. Sometimes different sizes are listed. Maybe you could message her to see if it is available? Hope this helps.
