If you follow on instagram, you might have seen a few progress pictures of our deck improvements. The hard work is done and now we are enjoying this little space to the fullest!
Mr. and my step father built our deck about 16 years ago. The wood was splintered and needed some sort of protection to extend its life until we are ready to do something major. I discovered Deckover by Behr on pinterest and was anxious to try it.
As you can see, Deckover really lives up to its claim. It fills in cracks nicely and the knots almost disappear. We no longer worry about splinters when we are out without shoes. The color is Drift Gray and I love it!
Before we started, we used deck cleaner and gave our deck a good scrubbing. We had to wait for it to dry before applying the first coat of Deckover. Lucky for us, the weather co-operated so later that afternoon, we applied it with brushes to get into all the deep cracks and used a roller for the rest. We applied a second coat the next morning and were able to walk on it by that afternoon. Basically it took all weekend, but it was so worth it!
I gave our urns a fresh coat of black paint and added palms for a coastal vibe. Mattie Gray approves :).
We have a few more things to do and one of them includes hanging curtains (either these, these, or these). I’ll be sure to share more pictures as updates are made.

I need that product for the deck in Florida! Thanks for the info. Love the ferns in the black urns and I am trying to figure out a way to add lights on my patio here in Georgia like you did!

Thank you for the review of this! We were looking at it on the week-end and trying decide whether to try it or just replace deck boards. I think my husband will be impressed with how it turned out. Your deck looks awesome 🙂

Get the heck out! It looks like a completely different deck now–I never would have thought you hadn't toiled away for hours sanding before painting.

Your deck looks great Rene! What a lovely spot to dine outdoors. And, you even got the Mattie Gray seal of approval! Is she feeling better? I know last week she was under the weather.

Love that you painted your deck gray. It just adds more interest. Our deck in CT was painted this color and the slabs of wood were also installed on the diagonal. I loved it!

How has the Deck Over held up?
René says
It held up well for a couple of years. Our deck is about 14 years old though and is showing its age. The deck will be replaced very soon.
