As I mentioned the other day, beds in front of windows can be done beautifully. While I would love to have windows flanking the bed with a sunburst mirror hanging over it like the rest of the world, we simply do not have room. I would take any of the above scenarios in a heartbeat. Nothing tricky about it – with the right window treatments, bedding, pillows, and well placed art, the bed-in-front-of-the-window approach works perfectly. Be sure to stop Wednesday for One Room Challenge updates.

I love this look and know it can be done really well. I don't have the confidence to do it myself. You will pull it off seamlessly and with style.

our bed is in front of a window, too, and i, too, would love some awesome art or mirror above the bed, but not happening. we've made it work for us, and i saw an idea recently i want to try that had a bed in front of a window. 🙂

It can be done well!! I know I have a few of these examples pinned in my bedrooms board on Pinterest and didn't even notice the placement of the bed. It's a great look, so I'm excited to check back to see your update on Wednesday!

We have out daughters bed infront of a shuttered window, its the only way to place it and really allow wall space for other pieces. I dont mind it, its not my first choice but it works. Great, post!

You of all people will surely make it look fabulous, Rene!

It adds character. The traditional layout (windows flanking in the perfect position) can also be boring. Not to spam you, or anything, but my guest room bed is in front of a window, here: http://theoldpostroadblog.blogspot.com/2013/09/september.html

Such beautiful spaces! I actually wish we could do this but our room just wouldn't work this way. Lovely, my friend.

Love your bedroom inspiration photos! You have such great style. When we renovated our house I actually planned two windows flanking the bed in our master & I love how it turned out. Now if the rest of the room could be transformed to look like a room above. In time;). I would love to invite you to Link up at Modern Cottage Monday a new link party at http://www.curatebycarriecorson.com

Been there done that. Lived in a house where the ONLY place the bed would go was in front of a bay window. It was gorgeous and I loved how it looked!!

I love the pictures, but to me, beds in front of the windows are typically American. It's something I would never have thought about before reading blogs. I love the idea though.

The window further frames the bed. You cannot go wrong.
