Thank you for all the well wishes last week! Mr. and I had a wonderful time while our boys were away at their grandparents’ in Maryland. The halfway point between our homes is Charlottesville, VA. That is where we normally meet to hand off or pick up the boys. This time we decided to spend some time in Charlottesville. It is such a charming town with so much to do and see. As a matter of fact, I could easily live there.
Charlottesville is known for their wineries and we wanted to be sure to include at least one winery visit. Of course Blenheim Vineyards, owned by Dave Matthews, was at the top of our list.
We enjoyed the wine tasting at Blenheim and fell in love with the Cabernet Franc. We brought a bottle home to enjoy later – too bad we couldn’t bring this view home with us as well.
The weather was absolutely perfect for a weekend road trip – warm sunshine and cool air made it feel like fall. We even needed a sweater for late night al fresco dining.
The drive through the countryside reminded us both so much of our tenth anniversary trip to Napa, CA. Its kinda nice having so many wineries close to home. To my readers in NC & VA, do you have a favorite local winery?
P.S. Don’t tell anybody, but we did a little off-roading and found some delicious grapes ;).
Happy Monday everybody! Here’s to a wonderful week!

Beautiful! So glad you had good weather! The cooler temps last week were a welcome change for sure. 🙂
Chateau Morrisette is not far from us in Floyd County. I hear wonderful things about it, but am ashamed to say that I've never visited. 🙂

We stopped there several years ago, maybe even before kids? We should probably give it another try. Thanks Katie!

YES! This is by far one of my favorite wineries! It is absolutely stunning with beautiful grounds and a gourmet restaurant. We stop here at least once a year while visiting a friend Floyd County. The best part is they welcome dogs in the winery, which makes it perfect for traveling with furry companions. We order to go from the restaurant (no dogs allowed in there) and lay a blanket under the pavilion for our own private picnic. Highly Recommend!

This is my favorite vineyard in the world! After my husband asked me to marry him at Carter Mountain Orchards in Charlottesville, we celebrated with friends at Blenheim! Thanks for the pictures!
